Families and law enforcement agencies are morning the loss of two of their own tonight.

Both of their deaths came within hours of each other, but were due to two unrelated incidents.

In Indianapolis, an officer was killed after he was shot at more than a dozen times.

It happened while the officer was responding to a rollover crash.

We do not know that officers name, but do know two suspects were taken into custody-- and a third person was hospitalized.

It's not clear if that third person is a suspect.

In an unrelated incident, Deputy Chief James Waters passed away after a serious crash over the weekend.

Thursday the news came that Waters was not able to recover from his critical injuries.

Waters was off duty at the time and was driving an unmarked police cruiser.
