(WXYZ) - Up and down 8 Mile Road, there are dozens of used car lots that promise bargain deals for safe and reliable rides.
On websites like Craigslist, ads for all kinds of wheels are easy to find. Some of these cars are the same ones General Motors is recalling for safety problems like ignition and air bag issues.
We paid a visit to a used car dealer in Warren. Owner Marvin Sawa was quick to admit he's selling a recalled ride that has not been fixed.
"It's been all over the news for a week now. We do have one," says Sawa. He adds "If we do sell it, obviously we are going to disclose the recall issues with the vehicle and offer the customer repairs. We would send it to a GM dealer because they are the only ones who can work on these vehicles when they are recalled."
Some other dealers refused to talk to us. A letter from GM to car owners lists a number of cars with the problem including 2005-2007 Cobalt, 2006-2007 Chevy HHR, 2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit, 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice, 2007 Pontiac G-5, 2003-2007 Saturn Ion and 2007 Saturn Sky.
Sawa says "we do business our way. Safety first. We don't sell any of the vehicles here without safety inspections. If it's not safe it's not going on the road."
