Victim of Tigers ticket scam speaks out

(WXYZ) - Talk about getting thrown a "curve ball" that was unexpected.

Cheyne Kornacki was looking forward to celebrating his 40th birthday at the fourth game of the ALCS, but when he tried to get into Comerica Park, he was told his tickets were fake.

"I couldn't believe it!" "The scanner was going was going berserk"! Cheyne knew he had been had.

He and his brother bought the tickets from Kodi Akins on Craigslist. They met him a hotel in Dearborn and exchanged $200 for two tickets. They didn't suspect anything was wrong.

Dearborn police tell Action News that several people bought bogus tickets from Akins in the Detroit area as well as in St. Louis and Chicago. The police are also asking for you help with any information.

Cheyne does have some advice for people, "make sure you know who you are dealing with." You really need to know that you are taking a chance."

This story does have a happy ending. Cheyne's Grandmother bought him tickets for his birthday that ended up being for the final game of the Tigers and Yankees series. That means, Cheyne got to watch the Tigers sweep the Yankees.
