(WXYZ) - There were tears and prayers for Brenna Machus Friday as her family, friends and even strangers came together in a Wyandotte park to light candles and remember her.
They are still understandably in shock over her murder.
The body of 20-year-old Brenna Machus was found in a wooded area not far from the Family Dollar store in Dearborn where she had been kidnapped after her 20-year-old coworker Joe Orlando was shot and killed in the store bathroom.
On Friday night, even though bad weather cut short the vigil at Bishop Park in Wyandotte, well over a hundred people pulled pennies from a jar and tossed them into the river, making a wish in Brenna's memory. A close friend also released balloons into the stormy sky.
"I hope these balloons get to her. I hope people will see them and say prayers for all of us," says one of Brenna's closest friends Ashley Waits.
Meanwhile family and friends say what they want and need now is for whoever did this to be caught and brought to justice. They say even though it won't bring Brenna back it will give them some closure.
Dearborn police say they are still using all of their resources to investigate this double murder and they are looking for tips on surveillance video they released.
Detroit Police say Dearborn Police did make an arrest at a car wash on Greenfield in Detroit on Friday, but Dearborn Police aren't saying yet if it had anything to do with this case.
