SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A vigil remembering the 20 children and six adults who were killed in a shooting rampage a year ago in Connecticut will be Saturday in Springfield.
Organizing for Action and local community members will gather at 5 p.m. at the Old State Capitol downtown.
The 26 shooting victims were killed in Newtown at an elementary school on Dec. 14, 2012.
In Springfield, the crowd will hear from Mary Kay Mace. She's the mother of a shooting victim at Northern Illinois University in 2008. Others who have been victimized by gun violence will speak as well as the Rev. Martin Woulfe of Springfield.
The event will conclude with a candlelight walk around the Capitol.
A spokesman says there will be portable heaters for the crowd.
