RICHMOND, Mich. (WXYZ) - The FBI has found 11-year-old Connor Grabowski- Cracchiolo who was reportedly kidnapped by his 53-year-old dad from Milford.
Connor's mother Kelly Evans first told Action News that the FBI called to inform her that her son is safe in their custody.
He was found safe in South Dakota.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department, the FBI arrested Connor's father Mark Grabowski a pheasant hunting ranch at River Hills Lodge.
He is being held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota until he is extradited back to Michigan.
Connor's mom says she has been worried sick for days since she went to pick up her son from his father's house and discovered both of them were gone.
"There were no cars, no dogs--the windows were all covered, the trailers were gone," said Kelly Evans, mother of 11-year-old Connor Grabowski-Cracchiolo, who police believe was kidnapped by his 53-year-old father, Mark Grabowski.
People gathered on Thursday night in Richmond to show support for Kelly Evans and light candles for Connor.
"I just want to see him," Kelly said Thursday evening. "We just celebrated his birthday."
A warrant had been issued for Mark Grabowski for keeping his son illegally. Ever since Connor was born, Evans and Grabowski have shared custody of Connor. On Thursday, Evans was granted full custody.
Some of Mark's neighbors say the 53-year-old dad told them he was leaving to find work in another state. According to the affidavit, police believe Mark may have been trying to start a new life with his son.
