AAA Michigan says gas prices in Metro Detroit are up for the second straight week, but experts say we may not have to wait much longer for a big relief at the pump.

The current average in our area is $2.42 per gallon, up nine cents from last week, according to AAA Michigan.

The organization says statewide gas prices have increased about seven cents since last week, bringing the average to $2.39 per gallon.

Of the ten cities surveyed, AAA Michigan says the highest prices can be found in the Ann Arbor area, where the average is around $2.46 per gallon.

Experts at AAA Michigan predict gas prices will hold steady throughout the remainder of the summer, but could drop below $2.00 per gallon in the fall once regions begin the transition to winter-blend gasoline.
