Michigan is the top producer of cherries in the nation, and we all know how the sometimes sweet, sometimes tart fruits can break a tooth if you bite down too hard.

Removing the pits is a messy, time=consuming job, but 7 Action News found a product claiming to make it fast and easy.

The Progressive Prep Solutions 6 Cherry PItter promises to pit six cherries at once with just the push of a button.

Members of the Older Persons' Commission (OPC) in Rochester paused their morning workout to put the little gadget to the test.

Apollo Lonas has a single cherry pitter at home that he uses and says his hands became stained cherry red. He was impressed at how clean and practically mess-free this product is.

Heather Arboleda says it takes a little pressure to push the lid down and pit all six cherries at once, but found it to be easy and very fast. The pits were sent to the bottom of the container while the cherries sat on top ready to be eaten or baked, and the parts had an easy clean up. Heather loves to make chery pies and right away asked to take the gadget home with her.

The product was a big hit at the OPC and in our test, it definitely worked.

We found the cherry pitter available online and at TJ Maxx for less than $10.
