The good ole football got a high tech makeover -- and now it's available for preorder.

Wilson Sporting Goods has launched the Wilson X Connected Football. The goal of this suped-up pigskin, according to the company, is to help fans create their own virtual stadium and sharpen their skill set.

Inside the football is a sensor that connects to a smartphone app via Bluetooth.  With the app, Wilson says users can track their throw distance, velocity, spiral efficiency, and more.

Different game modes in the app are aimed to give players the feel of what it's like to be an NFL quarterback. The smart football will even give you a ranking after analyzing your throws.

Battery life, it seems, is the true touchdown. The company says it's built to give users more than 500 hours of play.

The Wilson X Connected Football will cost you around $200 and is set to ship in September.
