(WXYZ) - Cairo, Egypt - We're continuing to follow the latest developments on the unrest in Egypt.
Yesterday, the Egyptian military overthrew the country's first democratically-elected leader, Mohamed Morsy.
Thousands of people gathered in Tahrir Square, celebrating the military's job of forcing Morsy out of power.
Earlier this week, the Egyptian military gave Morsy an ultimatum...either step down as president, or his powers would be removed with force.
The country's top military officer said Morsy didn't achieve the goals of the people.
He says Egypt's Head of Supreme Constitutional Court, Aldy Mansour, will replace Morsy as interim president.
Even though he's been overthrown, Morcy is still insisting he's the leader of Egypt
