(WXYZ) - A nasty case of arson landed a couple of young kids in trouble with cops.
A 12-year-old and 13-year-old are suspected of turning a neighbor's garage into a raging inferno in the early morning hours.
Young Eli Lewis, who is only 4 years old, is at a loss for words. His mother can only recall the panic she felt when two kids set the garage on fire.
"That's how we woke up, my husband looked out the window and saw the embers flying and we could feel the heat," said Alicia Lewis.
"I lost a bike that my friend Ryan gave me," said Eli. "Mom lost her bike and my dad lost his bike." The family lost their car, too.
The suspects certainly left a path of destruction, taking out the garage, a new vehicle and peeling the siding off a neighbor's garage. It'll be months before the thousands in damage can be rebuilt.
The 13-year-old is currently awaiting charges and is now locked up in juvenile detention. Meanwhile, the 12-year-old has been released and in the custody of his parents.
