DETROIT (WXYZ) - Six Tigers players, along with Jim Leyland returned from their trip to New York's All-Star game earlier this week, and found themselves still without their second baseman Omar Infante.
Infante suffered a sprained ankle on July 4 in Toronto when the Blue Jay's Colby Rasmus slid hard into Infante. Soon after Infante would be placed on the disabled list.
During the All-Star break Infante spent time in Lakeland, Fla., rehabilitating his sprained left ankle, and has been battling lingering soreness.
Infante rejoined the Tigers on Saturday for evaluation and then will head out to a rehab assignment when he is ready to go. The Tigers second baseman is batting .309 in 76 games this season
Infante, 31, was eligible to return from the disabled list Saturday.
