PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) -
Major League Baseball's owners unanimously approved expanded instant replay for the 2014 season and postseason on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Managers will get at least one challenge per game, and all video replays may be shown on park scoreboards. Home run as well as other boundary calls will remain reviewable.
Reviews will include a ground-rule double, force plays, fair/foul, traps in the outfield only, hit by pitch and touching bases.
"I am very pleased that instant replay will expand to include additional impactful plays," said commissioner Bud Selig. "The new system will give managers valuable recourse in potentially game-changing situations. The opportunity for our fans to see more replays in our ballparks is also an important modification that the clubs and I favored."
