Reports: Tigers still talking with Anibal Sanchez

DETROIT - The baseball winter meetings are always filled with rumors, and already the Tigers have been tied to talks with one of their own.

Anibal Sanchez and the Tigers appear to be far apart with contract talks, at least, according to one report.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says Detroit offered the free agent pitcher a four-year, $48 million deal, but his agent said the offer would "insult" the right-hander.

Disputing that claim, MLB.com's Jason Beck says the four-year $48 million offer is "not accurate." Beck reports the talks between the Tigers and 28-year old Sanchez are continuing.

Sanchez was acquired during the season from Miami and posted a 4-6 record with a 3.74 ERA in 12 starts. His most impressive performances came during the Tigers postseason run to the World Series. He had a 1.77 ERA in three starts.

Earlier in the offseason, word came out of Sanchez's camp saying the pitcher expected a $90 million contract from potential suitors.
