Tigers acquire Rays pitcher David Price

The Tigers have acquired 2012 American League Cy Young winner David Price from the Tampa Bay Rays.

The deal was confirmed by the Tigers shortly after today's loss to the Chicago White Sox. this afternoon.

Price, a four-time All-Star, has spent his entire career with the Rays. Since joining Tampa Bay in 2008, he has won 82 games and struck out 1,065 batters while compiling a 3.18 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.

Price won the 2012 Cy Young, which means the Tigers now employ the 2011 Cy Young winner in Justin Verlander, the 2012 Cy Young winner in Price and the 2013 Cy Young winner in Max Scherzer.

Austin Jackson was removed from this afternoon's Tigers game against Chicago, and reports suggest he is headed to Seattle.  The Mariners will send infielder Nick Franklin to Tampa Bay.

The Tigers also traded pitcher Drew Smyly and minor leaguer Willy Adames to Tampa Bay as part of the deal.
