The new hats give players "a truer bill," according to pitcher Max Scherzer.
During home pregame workouts, they will wear blue hats with a white front panel and a blue Old English D that is outlined in white. On the road, they'll wear gray hats with a blue Old English D outlined in orange. Both hats have blue bills.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the team wore the home version. Thursday was the first time they trotted out the road gray option.
The Tigers are only one of six MLB teams with two separate hats.
