(WXYZ) - For the Detroit Tigers was officially win or it's over! However, the home team was unable to get it done.
The team entered tonight's Game 4 of the World Series against the San Francisco Giants down 3 games to none.
The Tigers just weren't able to get their offense going, and wasted starting pitching efforts that kept them in the last two games.
So it was do or die for Detroit.
They sent Max Scherzer to the mound, hoping he could play the role of Giant killer. Scherzer went 5.2 innings in his last start, an 8-1 victory over the Yankees in the ALCS.
The Giants headed into Comerica tonight looking to complete the sweep.
They sent Marr Cain to the mound. Cain also went 5.2 innings in his last start, a 9-0 victory over St. Louis in the NLCS. Cain was 16 and 5 on the year, with one of his victories being the 22nd perfect game in MLB history.
That win came on June 13, against the Houston Astros.
