Tigers Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder win Silver Slugger Awards

DETROIT - Miguel Cabrera continues to pile up the postseason hardware. Thursday, one of his Tigers teammates joined him in the line for awards.

Prince Fielder won the American League Silver Slugger Award at first base, while Cabrera picked up the same honor at third base.

The award goes to the best offensive player at each position, determined by coaches and players.

Fielder won the award twice as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. This is his first AL Silver Slugger Award. In his first season with the Tigers, Fielder hit .313 with 30 home runs and 108 runs batted in.

Cabrera, winner of the BBWAA Tiger of the Year honor, hit .330 with 44 home runs and 139 runs batted in. He is also an official finalist for the American League Most Valuable Player.

He previously won a Silver Slugger honor in 2010 at first base with Detroit, and took home the award in the NL with the Marlins in 2005 (third base) and 2006 (outfield).
