The Detroit Tigers officially begin camp on Tuesday, when pitchers and catchers are to report to Joker Marchant Stadium.
Coming off a run to the World Series, the Tigers are favorites to make another deep run into the postseason after bringing back almost every key part of the American League Championship team and adding veteran outfielder Torii Hunter.
There are always questions at the beginning of Spring Training and this year, while there are less questions, they are all in important areas.
The storylines to watch in camp start at the end, with the closer position. Bruce Rondon is going to be the team's closing pitcher, barring a disastrous spring, but it will be interesting to see how the rookie handles all the attention he's sure to get from the start.
In left field, it seems to be Andy Dirks' spot to lose, but will Brennan Boesch find a resurgence in his swing? Can Quintin Berry be more than a spark plug? Does Avisail Garcia has the tools, but is he ready to be an everyday Major League player?
The fifth starter spot is going to be settled during the spring. Dave Dombrowski is giving Rick Porcello the early edge because of experience, and Jim Leyland is also in the right-hander's corner, but can Drew Smyly maintain the consistency from his first half last year?
The answers to these questions will finally begin to take shape Tuesday, as the Tigers kick off another season in Lakeland. And once again, WXYZ is on the ground bringing updates on Action News, on WXYZ.com, on Twitter, and Facebook.
