ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) -- Michigan signed fifteen-year-old Larry Prout Jr. to an honorary football scholarship Tuesday night during a press conference at Schembechler Hall.

The signing took place in conjunction with Team IMPACT, an organization whose stated goal is "improving the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team."

Larry, who lives in Howell, was diagnosed with spina bifida and several other illnesses at birth, and has undergone over 90 surgeries and multiple extended stays in hospitals.

During Tuesday's event, Larry signed a letter of intent to join the Michigan football program while flanked by head coach Jim Harbaugh and several players.
