DETROIT (WXYZ) -- Matt DeBlouw scored the game-winning goal in overtime and Michigan State beat Michigan 3-2 Friday night at a sold-out Joe Louis Arena.

Joe Cox scored two goals for the Spartans (7-18-2), who beat the Wolverines (16-4-4) for the first time this season. Michigan won the previous two meetings in January.

Tyler Motte scored both of Michigan's goals, including one midway through the third to give the Wolverines their first and only lead of the game.

After the game, the Spartans were presented with the new 'Iron D' trophy. The trophy, unveiled earlier in the week, will be presented to the winner of the teams' annual matchup in Detroit.
