(WXYZ) -- Michigan State will play Georgia in a charity exhibition basketball game on October 29 in Grand Rapids, following the lead of other programs who have held similar events recently.

The event was announced Monday afternoon by Van Andel Arena, where the game will be played.

Proceeds from the game will benefit American Red Cross disaster relief efforts. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 25 at the Van Andel Arena box office and through Ticketmaster.

Kansas and Missouri played a game Sunday in Kansas City that raised nearly two million dollars for hurricane relief efforts.

The Spartans are no stranger to Grand Rapids, playing a regular-season game against Arkansas-Little Rock in 2005 and an exhibition game against Grand Valley in 2006, both at Van Andel Arena.
