Denard Robinson impresses at NFL combine

(WXYZ) - Changing positions is always a difficult task, but Denard Robinson spent the weekend proving he's on the track to being on the successful side of the track.

The former Michigan quarterback is transitioning to wide receiver at the next level, and at the NFL combine, impressed scouts with a known strength: his speed, and an unproven ability: catching passes.

Robinson posted a 4.43 second 40-yard dash Sunday, one of the fastest times of the weekend for any player.

"My vision is to try to be the best that I can possibly be when I get to the NFL. Whatever teams put me at, that's what I'm going to work my tail off to be," he told reporters.

According to multiple eyes on the scene, Robinson's route running and catching improved mightily from the last time scouts watched him. He struggled at the Senior Bowl, dropping passes and leaving teams unimpressed.

Robinson is still recovering from nerve damage in his elbow, an injury that kept him out much of the latter half of Michigan's season.
