DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Pistons have signed Italian League MVP Luigi Datome and re-signed point guard Will Bynum. The announcement came Monday via the team's twitter account.
Datome is a native of Montebelluna, Italy, and averaged 16.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds for Virtus Roma last season. The 6-foot-9, 225 pound small forward was considered one of the best shooters in the European League and shot nearly 40 percent from the three point line.
The Pistons expect Datome to help spread the court and pose a shooting threat for opposing teams.
Bynum, a six year veteran, played in 60 games for Detroit last season and averaged 9.8 points and 3.6 assists.
Bynum will compete for minutes in the backcourt with guards Brandon Knight and the newly acquired Chauncey Billups.
