(WXYZ) - For the second straight year, one of the Detroit Lions best all-time players is a finalist in the vote for the cover of the Madden NFL video game.
Barry Sanders, who entered the Hall of Fame in 2004 after playing 10 years with the Lions, has been elected to the Madden NFL 25 final vote by fans.
He will face off against arguably the most talented running back in the NFL today, Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson. This year's game is the 25th edition of the uber-popular game, and the Hall of Famer vs. present day star is reflective of EA Sports' celebration of legends and current players.
Sanders squeaked by Jerry Rice in the semifinal vote, after besting Joe Montana and Ray Lewis in the previous weeks. Peterson topped Houston Texans running back Arian Foster in his semifinal matchup.
The vote has become an annual tradition in the spring leading up to football season, run by ESPN and their SportsNation show. The voting ends Wednesday, with a public display in Times Square set to reveal the winner.
Last year, Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson graced the cover of the game.
