GAME BLOG: Lions at Eagles


4:51 p.m. Jason Hanson hit a game-winning 45 yard field goal in overtime to win the game for the Detroit Lions. Previously, the defense had held the Eagles to 3-and-out on their offensive possession. FINAL SCORE: Detroit Lions 26 - Philadelphia Eagles 23.

4 :37 p.m. Detroit drove the ball down to the one yard line and had two shots at the end zone but were unable to punch in the touchdown. Jason Hanson kicked the field goal with 3 seconds left to tie the game at 23. The game is headed to overtime.

4:23 p.m. At the two minute warning Detroit has the ball and is driving, needing a field goal to tie the score.

4:17 p.m. Matthew Stafford connected with Nate Burleson for a 17 yard score to close the gap to 23-20. Earlier in the drive Stafford connected with tight end Tony Scheffler on a 52 yard pass play. There is 3:32 remaining in the game.

4:09 p.m. Jeremy Maclin caught a 70 yard touchdown pass from Michael Vick with 5:18 remaining on the game. On 3rd and 4 the Eagles lined up in a bunch formation and confused the defense leading to a wide open Maclin running down the middle of the field. Philadelphia leads 23-13.

3:56 p.m. Chris Houston intercepted a pass by Michael Vick intended for DeSean Jackson. Detroit takes over possession at the Eagles 34.

3:50 p.m. Matthew Stafford scored on a 1 yard touchdown run to close the gap to 13-10 with 10:30 remaining in the game. On the point after attempt, Fletcher Cox, a defensive tackle for the Eagles, was flagged for unnecessary roughness and was ejected from the game. Calvin Johnson had two receptions on the drive.

3:41 p.m. Philadelphia has added 3 points to their lead after Alex Henery connected on a 49 yard field goal. Eagles now lead 16-6 over the Lions with 13:39 remaining in the game.

3:36 p.m. At the end of the third quarter Philadelphia leads Detroit 13-6. Philadelphia dominated the third quarter holding Detroit to no first downs and only 6 plays run offensively.

3:28 p.m. The Eagles have added a field goal to extend their lead 13-6 over the Lions. Brent Celek seemed to have a touchdown but was called for offensive pass interference to negate the score. Cliff Avril sacked Michael Vick on third down to force the field goal.

3:23 p.m. LeSean McCoy of the Eagles has returned to the game after leaving earlier with a lower body injury.

3:14 p.m. LeSean McCoy of the Eagles went down with a lower body injury after carrying the ball for no gain. There's 7:10 remaining in the third quarter. McCoy walked off the field under his own power.

3:05 p.m. Philadelphia drove 72 yards in 15 plays but had to settle for a field goal after Detroit stopped Michael Vick and the Eagles inside the ten yard line. Philadelphia leads Detroit 10-6 with 8:19 remaining in the third quarter.

2:37 p.m. At halftime the Philadelphia Eagles lead the Detroit Lions 7-6. It has been a sloppy first half for both teams with several penalties, turnovers, and missed opportunities for both teams. Philadelphia will receive the ball to start the second half.

2:26 p.m. Michael Vick connected with LeSean McCoy on a 3 yard touchdown pass. The Eagles drive was helped out by several penalties by the Lions defense. Philadelphia leads Detroit 7-6 with 1:00 left in the first half.

2:21 p.m. At the two minute warning Detroit leads Philadelphia 6-0 but Philadelphia is driving the football.

2:06 p.m. Louis Delmas picked off a Michael Vick pass intended for Jason Avant. Delmas is playing in his first game of the year after having knee surgery in the offseason. Lions lead Eagles 6-0 with 8:20 remaining in the first half.

1:49 p.m. Matthew Stafford tried to hit Calvin Johnson on a deep pass but was intercepted by Nnamdi Asomugha. Philadelphia takes over on downs.

1:45 p.m. At the end of the first quarter Detroit leads Philadelphia 6-0.

1:43 p.m. Michael Vick fumbled for the second time on the drive but lost the second fumble to Stephen Tulloch. Detroit takes over possession on the Philadelphia 33 yard line.

1:33 p.m. The Lions drove down the field but were forced to settle for a 34 yard field goal by Jason Hanson. The drive stalled after Gosder Cherilus was flagged for an unnecessary roughness penalty. The Lions lead the Eagles 6-0 with 3:46 left in the first quarter.

1:13 p.m. Jason Hanson put the Lions on the board early with a 46 yard field goal. The drive was set up by a 48 yard punt return from Stefan Logan.
