(WXYZ) - Lions assistant coaches Jeremiah Washburn, Terry Heffernan, Jim Bonamego, Curtis Modkins, Jim Washburn, Kris Kocurek, and Bobby Johnson will all return next season.
Jim Caldwell has retained them for his staff.
The father and son Washburn team (Jeremiah coached the offensive line and Jim the defensive line) joined the Lions before the 2013 season. Both guided their units to impressive improvements throughout the year. Jeremiah was long believed to be a coach that management wanted to keep in the fold.
Bonamego stabilized a special teams unit that was one of the team's worst areas in 2012.
Heffernan ( assistant offensive line coach, Modkins (running backs coach), Kocurek (defensive line coach), Johnson (tight ends coach) were all brought back by Caldwell.
