Kid Rock to headline Lions Thanksgiving Day halftime show at Ford Field

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Lions fans get ready to rock with Kid Rock on Thanksgiving Day.

The singer, songwriter and Michigan native will headline the halftime show of the Lions 73rd Thanksgiving Day game vs. the Houston Texans at Ford Field.

Detroit Lions Team President Tom Lewand broke the news Friday on 7 Action News This Morning.

Kid Rock will perform his new song "Detroit, Michigan," a feature track from his new album "Rebel Soul," which will be released November 19.

The song pays tribute to several Motor City music greats like Aretha Franklin, Bob Seger, Marvin Gaye and even Eminem.

The so-called 'Son of Detroit' is no stranger to the Thanksgiving Day gig. Kid Rock also headlined the 2010 Turkey Day halftime show at Ford Field.

The 2012 United Way Thanksgiving Halftime Show, highlighted by Kid Rock's performance, will celebrate the 125th anniversary of United Way by thanking the millions of donors, advocates and volunteers.

Kick-off for the Lions vs. Texans game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m
