Lions activate Ziggy Ansah from PUP list

Ansah won't play against Raiders

ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Ziggy Ansah has been activated from the PUP list, and will begin practicing with the Lions tonight, for the first time since training camp began.

Head Coach Jim Caldwell made it clear Ansah will not play Friday night in Oakland.

"He's not going to play this weekend," said Caldwell. "He'll be able to catch up pretty quickly.  One of the things up front with four guys, it's not really too different from what he's been accustomed to, just in terms of knowing games and stunts."

Ansah missed all of the team's OTA's and minicamps, before working out on the side of various training camp workouts. He's been recovering from shoulder surgery he had this offseason.

Detroit's 2013 first round pick had eight sacks and 32 tackles last season. He forced two fumbles in 14 games.

The Lions play their second preseason game in Oakland this Friday on WXYZ Detroit Channel 7.
