Detroit Lions announce preseason schedule; Games to air on Channel 7

(WXYZ) - While exact dates are forthcoming, the Lions announced their four 2014 preseason opponents. Each of the games will air on WXYZ Channel 7.

The Lions will open the preseason with a matchup against Cleveland at Ford Field, sometime between August 7-11. It will be the 13th consecutive year the two teams will meet in the preseason and the 46th time Detroit and Cleveland have squared off in the preseason.

In Week Two of the preseason, the Lions will travel to Oakland to face the Raiders. This will be the second trip to Oakland in three years, as Detroit played the Raiders in the 2012 preseason. In six preseason matchups, the Raiders have won five times.

The Lions will return home for Week Three of the preseason to host the Jacksonville Jaguars. This will be the second preseason meeting between the two teams. Detroit defeated Jacksonville in the Jaguars inaugural season, 1995.

The traditional matchup with Buffalo will conclude the preseason schedule and for the second straight year, the Lions will travel to Orchard Park for the matchup.  Detroit and Buffalo have squared off in the preseason each year since 2002.  The Lions beat the Bills 35-13 to conclude the 2013 preseason.
