ALLEN PARK, Mich. - The Prep Kickoff Classic is the beginning of the high school football season in Michigan. Monday, stars from the games visited Lions practice.
In attendance were Brother Rice quarterback Alex Malzone and other star athletes from Dearborn, Dearborn Fordson, Detroit Cass Tech, Detroit Cody, East English Village Prep, Melvindale, Oak Park, Orchard Lake St. Mary's, Soutfield, Warren Mott, and West Bloomfield.
Advance tickets to the Prep Kickoff Classic are available at each of the participating schools at a discounted price of $9. A portion of the proceeds from advance ticket sales benefits the participating schools. Tickets at the gate on game days are $10.
Highlighted by eight games that include six new teams and 12 playoff teams from last season, the 2014 Prep Kickoff Classic lineup will feature defending and past state champions, five first-time matchups and local rivalry games.

The award-winning Prep Kickoff Classic, formerly known as the Big Day Prep Showdown, is celebrating its 10th year and has featured some of the state’s top players. Seventy-eight players that participated in last year’s event signed collegiate National Letters of Intent with NCAA Division I, II, II and NAIA schools on National Signing Day.
