ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - After acquiring Mike Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars before the trade deadline last season, the Lions released the wide receiver on Monday.
The Lions initially brought Thomas to the Motor City to provide a lift to the receiving corps after Nate Burleson went down with an injury in 2012.
Thomas, who had five receptions for 28 yards in nine games last season with Detroit, has had a difficult time during Lions training camp.
According to reports, the Lions have to pay Thomas $1 million which is the guaranteed portion of his $1.45 million base salary from the contract he signed with Jacksonville.
