NFL to announce 32-team 2013 schedule Thursday

(WXYZ) - We are still four months away from preseason football, but the NFL season will only feel more real Thursday.

The league will announce its 32-team schedule at 8 p.m. Thursday night.

After rumors swirled about a pending announcement, NFL Senior VP of Communications, Greg Aiello, tweeted the news about the official unveiling.

The Lions opponents are already known. At home, they will face division foes in the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings, as well as the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

On the road, the Lions will make the NFC North rounds to play Chicago, Green Bay, and Minnesota. They will also face the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.

WXYZ will carry the team's preseason games against the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Buffalo Bills.
