ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) -- Lions running back Ameer Abdullah shed the 'no contact' red jersey for the familiar Honolulu Blue at practice on Saturday.
"You probably didn't miss it," head coach Jim Caldwell joked with reporters when asked about the red jersey being gone. "It was in the wash."
Caldwell wouldn't speculate on the timetable for Abdullah's return to the lineup, but did acknowledge the versatility Abdullah brings on all sides of the ball.
"Obviously he’s got some special traits that just don’t happen every single day with a player just in terms of, you know, he can run, make you miss, catch the ball, he’s a well-rounded individual. Certainly can help us in a lot of ways.”
