(WXYZ) - Sammy Watkins would add a dynamic presence to the Lions offense, but it's unlikely Detroit will land him in the NFL Draft -- unless a trade is made.
Tuesday, the team got to know Watkins a little better, hosting the former Clemson wide receiver for a pre-draft visit.
Watkins told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press he met Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate during his visit.
The prospect of suiting up with Johnson and Tate would be attractive to anyone, including the 6'1" and 205 lb. Watkins.
“I think I can go in and not be the superman wide receiver but go in there and make plays and help my team out,” Watkins told the Free Press.
Bill Ford, Jr. was reportedly at the team's Allen Park headquarters on Tuesday. It is not known if Ford met with Watkins, but following the death of his father, William Clay Ford, Bill said he hoped to have a more involved role with meeting players and free agents.
The Lions own the 10th overall pick in May's NFL Draft.
