Helpful fan tips for NCAA Tournament opener at The Palace

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - As we get ready for Michigan and Michigan State to open up their NCAA Tournament at The Palace of Auburn Hills, we have several fan tips so everyone can get the most out of March Madness.

PRACTICES AND PARKING FREE TO PUBLIC ON WEDNESDAY:

Noon - 12:40 p.m - Valparaiso
12:45 - 1:25 p.m. - South Dakota State
1:30 - 2:10 p.m. - Michigan State
2:15 - 2:55 p.m. - Memphis
4:25 - 5:05 p.m. - Michigan
5:10 - 5:50 p.m. - VCU
5:55 - 6:35 p.m. - Middle Tennessee/St. Mary's
6:40 - 7:20 p.m. - Akron

ARRIVE EARLY ON GAME DAY:

Valparaiso and Michigan State are scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday; however, don't cut it too close in terms of your arrival. Since thousands of people will be here, arriving at 10 a.m. to ensure a good parking spot is not a bad idea.

South Dakota State and Michigan will tip at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, which raises a huge concern: heavy traffic depending on where you're traveling from.

It's wise to arrive at Palace by 4:30-5 p.m. if possible.

THE RENOVATED PALACE EXPERIENCE:

It's not just basketball games that fans can enjoy -- the renovated Palace of Auburn Hills is something to check out if you never have before.

"It's going to give fans an opportunity to see the renovations," said Kevin Grigg, a Palace of Auburn Hills spokesperson.

"We've renovated the main concourse. We've renovated our club west, which will be open for food and beverage. We're ready to give everybody a show and show off everything that we've done at the Palace in the last year."

That said, have a great time and enjoy the March Madness.
