DETROIT (WXYZ) - The biggest storyline on the first day of Red Wings training camp in Traverse City is the news that Daniel Cleary will remain in Hockeytown instead of joining the Flyers.
At least for one more season that is.
According to reports, Cleary has agreed on a one-year deal worth $1.75 million with the Wings.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Flyers were willing to give Cleary a three-year deal worth $8.25 million.
The newspaper also reported that it appears Cleary used Philadelphia to gain leverage as a way to get the Wings to up the ante.
Cleary did agree to a tryout contract with the Flyers.
Cleary, who scored nine goals in the lockout-shortened season last year, was instrumental in helping the Wings skate into the playoffs.
