DETROIT (WXYZ) - Danny DeKeyser was named Red Wings rookie of the year Wednesday by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association (DSBA).
DeKeyser appeared in 65 games during the 2013-14 season, accumulated a total of 23 points (4 goals and 19 assists) and earned a plus-10 rating.
DeKeyser signed with the Red Wings as an undrafted free agent near the end of the 2012-13 season after his time in Kalamazoo at Western Michigan, where he has was named a CCHA All-Star and two-time best defensive defenseman.
DeKeyser also played for Team USA during the recent 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Belarus, where he had two assists in eight games.
The DSBA will honor DeKeyser prior to a Red Wings home game during the 2014-15 season.
