DETROIT - Last week, it looked like Pavel Datsyuk and Stephen Weiss were on their way back into the Red Wings lineup. Now, both are headed back on the shelf.
Datsyuk will not make the trip to New Jersey for the team's game on Tuesday. He injured his knee in January, and according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, will visit a fourth doctor for another opinion on surgery.
After playing in two games last week, Datsyuk's return reaggravated the knee inflammation. He may miss Thursday and Friday's games, as well.
Weiss left the ice during practice on Monday. Sports hernia surgery has set a long road of recovery for the Red Wings forward, who hasn't played since December 10.
Skating this morning flared up his groin injury, and will likely miss at least a 7-10 days. Last week, Weiss said he expected to return to the lineup soon, and hoped to skate in Grand Rapids before playing in Detroit.
His contributions to the team's playoff chase, like Datsyuk's, are on hold.
