DETROIT (WXYZ)- The Red Wings announced today they have signed goaltender Petr Mrazek to a one-year contract extension for the 2015-16 season. No other details will be disclosed.
Mrazek was a standout for the Grand Rapids Griffins during the 2013-14 season. His 2.10 goals-against average were second in the AHL and his 0.924 save percentage was third in the AHL. Mrazek boasted a record of 22-9-1 in his 32 appearances with Grand Rapids and was consequently named to the AHL's second All-Star team for his performance.
A native of the Czech Republic, Mrazek was a key component of the Griffins' 2013 Calder Cup championship team, sporting a 23-16-2 record, a 2.33 goals against average, a 0.916 save percentage and four shutouts. The 6-foot-1, 184-pound goalie saw some NHL action in Detroit during in the 2013-14 season, in which he went 2-4-0 with a 1.74 goals-against average and 0.927 save percentage during nine games with the Red Wings.
The Red Wings drafted Mrazek in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
