Jim Caldwell interviews with Detroit Lions for head coaching position

Add Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell to the list of Detroit Lions head coaching candidates.  The former Colts head coach (2009-2011) interviewed with the Lions on Friday.

Caldwell won Super Bowl XLI working with Peyton Manning as the Colts quarterbacks coach.  Once head coach Tony Dungy stepped down, Caldwell took over the job and led the Colts to a 14-0 start in 2009.

Things fell apart for Caldwell in 2011 when Manning needed season-ending surgery on his neck.  He was shortly fired after going 2-14.

The following year, Caldwell signed with the Ravens to be their quarterbacks coach.  On December 10, 2012, Caldwell took over for Cam Cameron as the Ravens offensive coordinator. Caldwell led Joe Flacco and company to a, 34-31, victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

Caldwell's interview was the first for the Lions since their coaching search officially began on Monday.
