Jim Harbaugh vows he had a plan all along.

Michigan's offense took on a new life when Brandon Peters stepped in at quarterback on Saturday. The man calling the shots said he and the team knew that would happen.

"It had been planned out at the beginning of the week. Brandon knew that, our team knew that, so when it came to that point, I thought it was a good time to do it," Harbaugh told WXYZ in our weekly one-on-one conversation.

Peters complete 10 of 14 pass attempts for 124 yards and a touchdown against Rutgers.

"He had earned the right to play. It's a meritocracy, and now that he's playing, and played well, he's earned more playing time," Harbaugh added. "There's no starting jobs that are given by default. They're earned, and he's earned that."
