(WXYZ) - Katie Couric will be sitting down with Notre Dame star football player Manti Te'o for the first on camera interview since it was revealed that his girlfriend never existed.
The interview will air on Couric's daytime talk show on Thursday, January 24. The show airs on WXYZ-TV at 3:00 pm.
Couric will also be interviewing Te'o's parents, Brian and Ottilia Te'o.
At this point it is not clear exactly when the interview will be conducted. ABC News says Couric will be reporting on the interview for Good Morning America, World News, Nightline, ABCNews.com and ABC News Radio.
Te'o's interview with Couric follows a sit down interview with ESPN's Jeremy Schaap that was conducted last week. However, that interview was not conducted on camera.
In the interview with Schaap, Te'o admitted to making mistakes in his conduct, but that he was a victim of the hoax as well. He also said he was afraid people would think he was crazy for being involved with a person he had never met.
The story of Te'o's girlfriend became one of the major storylines of the Notre Dame football's season. It became a media sensation as Te'o competed and eventually ended up as a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.
The hoax was eventually revealed by the online sports blogging site Deadspin.com.
