DETROIT (WXYZ) - Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is now officially the first NBA player to sign to Jay-Z's sports agency, Roc Nation Sports.
The announcement came via rocnation.com Sunday afternoon, just one week after the Grammy-winning rap artist became a certified basketball and baseball agent and was given league clearance to begin representing NBA players. In a photo released by the agency, Durant expressed his appreciation.
"Grateful for this opportunity with Roc Nation Sports," Durant said. "It's go time."
Earlier this month the NBA All-Star left his old agency, Landmark Sports. The 24-year-old superstar averaged 28.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game and finished second in NBA MVP voting during the 2012-13 season. Durant joins an already promising group of potential stars including New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith and Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins.
"He has a 90.5 free throw shooting rate, the youngest player in NBA history to join the 50-40-90 club, a giving individual and a legend in the making," Jay-Z said of Durant. "What more can I say?"
The signing of Durant better positions the rap legend to add more elite level NBA talent to his firm's roster.
