Cass Tech wins Meijer Game of the Week

DETROIT - Cass Tech proved why its the top-ranked team in the state Friday night, cruising to a 44-0 win over Detroit Renaissance in the Meijer Game of the Week.

The Technicians flooded the end zone in the first quarter. William White kicked off the scoring with a ten-yard touchdown to make it 7-0.

Sophomore quarterback Jayru Campbell took over from there. Three touchdown passes in the first half led to a running clock before the break.

Campbell connected on a TD pass with senior wide receiver DaQuan Pace for 25 yards on the Technicians second drive. In Cass Tech's first three offensive plays, they scored two touchdowns.

Moments later, Campbell dropped a dump pass off to University of Michigan recruit Jourdan Lewis, who did the rest of the work. 18 yards later, it was 20-0.

The hero of the 2011 season as just a freshman, Campell looks bigger and stronger in his second season in charge of the offense.

Notes: At halftime, Cass Tech senior offensive tackle David Dawson was presented with his Under Armour All-American jersey.
