(WXYZ) - The Michigan football program has released sophomore Csont'e York from the team.
"Csont'e York has been dismissed from the Michigan football program," Hoke said in the prepared statement.
"Representing the University of Michigan is a privilege and, while second chances are certainly deserved, sometimes it's better for everyone if that happens somewhere else. Overall, I have been proud of how responsible our team has been this offseason and how hard they've worked to prepare for the season."
York is currently facing three assault charges from an incident where York allegedly punched a man, breaking his jaw.
York appeared in one game in 2013, as a reserve wide receiver. He is from Harper Woods, and attended Chandler Park Academy.
