Michigan State has established a scholarship fund named after former punter Mike Sadler.

The 24-year-old died in a car accident over the weekend.

The Mike Sadler Legacy Scholarship Fund will help give a scholarship to one MSU football player each year.

“Mike Sadler was a giver, not a taker,” Mark Dantonio said in a statement.

Sadler's family is asking for donations to the fund, in place of sending flowers.

“Mike was about life. He would want to be remembered as a person who embraced life," Dantonio continued.

"His wit, character, passion and competitiveness will live on through the establishment of this legacy scholarship fund. Mike Sadler will forever be associated with the Spartan football program.”

Donations can be sent to Michigan State University, addressed to: Spartan Fund, 535 Chestnut Rd, Suite 200, East Lansing, MI 48824.

Online donations are also accepted through the 'Give Now' link on spartanfund.net.
