The New Jersey Devils made a bevy of moves on
Friday, including the activation of premier forward Patrik Elias from injured
reserve.
Elias, the franchise's all-time leading point producer, has yet to appear in a
game this season while recovering from offseason groin surgery. He registered
31 goals and 47 assists in 77 games last year.
While the club welcomed Elias back to the lineup, forward Rob Niedermayer
(upper-body) and defenseman Johnny Oduya (lower-body) were placed on IR.
Niedermayer, who was hurt in Wednesday's win over Washington, has two goals
and seven points in 13 games this season, his first with the Devils. Oduya has
no points and a minus-5 rating through 11 games.
New Jersey also signed forward Dean McAmmond to a two-way contract. McAmmond
had a goal and two assists in six games this season with the Devils' American
Hockey League affiliate in Lowell.
The 16-year NHL veteran has 178 goals and 253 assists in 934 career games.
