DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Atlanta Hawks picked up former Michigan State power forward Adreian Payne at No. 15 during Thursday's NBA draft in Brooklyn, New York.
Payne, who played all four years for Tom Izzo at Michigan State, becomes the highest Spartan drafted since Jason Richardson went No. 5 during the 2001 NBA draft.
Payne is known for his versatility on the court, where he can dunk and knock down three-pointers. Payne averaged 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds as a senior in East Lansing, Mich.
