DETROIT (WXYZ) - According to reports, the Pistons and Kings have resumed talks that could send Josh Smith to Sacramento.
Marc Stein of ESPN.com first reported the Kings were still interested in Smith and that both teams are looking for a third team to facilitate the deal.
Josh Smith joined the Pistons last year after previously spending his first nine seasons with Atlanta. Smith's first season with Detroit did not go as planned. Many experts believed he struggled to play as a small forward in their system alongside big men Drummond and Monroe. Smith averaged 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds a game last season.
According to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee, the reaction to acquiring Smith is a bit confusing.
After signing a four year $54 million deal last summer, many experts question the Kings motive to take on the remaining $40.5 million after a disappointing first season. But Jones added that the team is looking for an athletic power forward like Smith.
